Accounts and public contributions

UrbanPlantz stores account email and name, saved places, contributions and security sessions on the organiser's NAS. Account emails and saved lists are private. Display names on field updates, plant notes and photographs are public on the map, including locations awaiting confirmation.

Contributor progress is private by default. If you opt into the leaderboard, your public display name, XP and contribution level are visible. You can leave the leaderboard in Community at any time.

Deleting your account removes your credentials, sessions and saved places. Shared location information and photographs remain, without an account link, to keep the community map useful.

Maps and optional location

The map uses Google Maps. GPS is optional and stays in browser memory; UrbanPlantz does not save your walking location on its server. Requesting an in-app route sends your starting location and destination to Google. Open Google Maps takes you to Google for navigation. Optional Analytics has a separate choice.

When you explicitly search for a city or area in Choose map area, the search text is sent to Google Maps to find that place. Your selected manual area can be remembered in this browser tab for up to 24 hours across sign-in and reload. This feature never stores your GPS position, and city/area search text is not sent to Analytics.

Google sign-in shares your basic profile and verified email to create or connect your account. UrbanPlantz does not request Gmail, contacts or files. Existing email accounts connect Google from Your account after signing in.

Analytics choices

Development tracking is disabled. When production Analytics is enabled, a same-origin region decision activates Google Analytics automatically in general regions unless you have declined. Protected and unknown regions require acceptance. An explicit decline persists in this browser and overrides automatic activation.

Advertising features are disabled. Analytics uses reviewed page paths and generic titles without search text, account details, coordinates, queries or form contents. Country lookup stays on Code Factory and uses IP Geolocation by DB-IP. Your IP and country are not returned to the browser.

Open the menu's Analytics choices control to allow or decline optional usage measurement at any time. This choice applies to optional Analytics separately from Google Maps and sign-in.
