About this plant
Raspberries grow on canes and bear soft fruits made up of many drupelets. Ripe raspberries detach from their central receptacle, leaving a hollow centre.
Native range: Rubus idaeus: northern Europe and Asia. North American red raspberries are also treated as Rubus strigosus or a subspecies in some references. Species identity at this spot remains open.
Typical season: Summer reference; autumn-bearing cultivars can fruit later.
