About this plant

A flowering tree with toothed leaves and round, fleshy fruits containing a single stone. Sweet and sour cherries are different species; ornamental cherries can look similar.

Native range: Sweet and sour cherries have Eurasian origins. Other Prunus species are native to North America; the broad label does not establish which grows here.

Typical season: Summer reference for the Toronto launch area; cultivar and weather affect ripening.
